Large Sum Taken

By “taken,” do you also mean “stolen”?

Anyway, first thing that comes to my mind is something that was stolen from me back in middle school. Back then, I worked for half of the lunch period so I could get a “free” lunch. Before working, student workers would throw their backpack all in one area.

After working one day and then going home, I opened my backpack and looked in the compartment where I kept my wallet and film canister of quarters. My wallet was empty and so was the film canister. I felt a mix of emotions. I was sad, shocked, confused, pissed at the person who took my money, and pissed at myself. I never really bought anything at school (because I got a free lunch) but I nevertheless carried a huge sum of money in my backpack in case there was ever any emergency. I had about $30 in my backpack =C and most of the quarters I had in my film canister were state quarters, which I was collecting for my state quarter collection.

That incident caused me to be less trusting. I always keep an eye on my backpack. When I feel like falling asleep in class, I don’t because I think someone will go through my backpack. It also made me a penny pincher. I felt so terrible for losing a large amount of money that I didn’t want to spend money I things I wanted.
