How I figure them vampires out.
If going up to a mysterious, dark looking fellow and just asking him is not the thing for you, throw a rock at him.
Yes a rock.
Vampires are supposed to be swift, and Im sure would either catch or dodge a fast flying rock.
Make sure he doesnt see you, incase it hits him, hes not a vampire, and files a lawsuit.

This is a general idea but I can't see this fitting with the storyline all to well. Considering Corbin's feelings towards the man I doubt she'd do something that mean and intrusive.
Yes, vampires are swift...but that also means their swift enough to easily miss the rock while still holding his cover. The idea is pretty decent, but I don't like how intrusive it is toward the mysterious man.

lol i was thinking something sorta similar--you know, something where u test if the person is a vampire by doing something ONLY a vampire could do--but i thought, that'd be bad to do it and the person wasn't a vampire, then they'd die. for example, in your case, if you throw a rock at someone you thought was a vamp, but was actually human, and you hit him in the head, he'd die or get brain damage or something.
