Headstrong

In which having a hard head comes in handy.

When I was younger, more energetic, and less wise than I am today, I liked to run everywhere. Why waste time when running gets you there faster, leaving more time to climb trees and torment siblings?

Anyway, the house in which I lived at the time had a fireplace, which was lined with brick on the sides, one of them which formed a brick wall. It looked nice enough, but it wasn't something I thought about.

One day, I was running through the halls like a maniac, as usual, and somehow, I swerved, running headfirst into the wall. A nasty thump was heard, maybe a couple tears, but I wasn't all that worried.

My parents, however, were spoilsports, forcing me to shower so they could see the bump on my head better. And what they saw worried them, which scared me. Off we went to the emergency room, where I was examined and ended up with a couple staples to my skull.

The strangest thing about the incident is that I can never remember it hurting at all. Guess being headstrong comes in handy at times.

OW!!! Staples?!?!?! I had those after my surgery last year and I would like to go on the record as strongly opposing stitches and staples in general.

Actually, I can't remember much pain involved with staples, while stitches creep me out, as I hate needles >.< Would much rather get staples again than stitches again.

I'd be scared outta crap if that happened to me. I mean, I have had a few close calls... but nothing serious. =/

I was too young and dumb to be all that scared; I was only scared because of my parents' reaction.

That is one strong head you got there. Glad you weren't seriously hurt.

i definitely agree about the running. I always run up stairs. Otherwise they just take too long, and that's boring. And I hate waiting for elevators. Also boring.

I can relate with the elevators! My school has three speedy ones that travel 10 floors including the basement, and at times it'll still take a few minutes to catch 'em.
And a few minutes is a long time when you're doing nothing but waiting. D|

I don't run around as much anymore, as I tend to run into things ^^;; It hurts less while walking.
