Assuming your parents won't fall for the awesome website Barry and I are throwing together, you could always surprise them with something to make them feel more at ease. Like how you two were invited along on a tour of college campuses. Tell them you had applied months ago but thought it was all filled up. Then when some people dropped out, you were invited at the last second and needed to go without hesitation. I'm sure your parent's will fully go with that idea.
I can throw together a quick acceptance letter and fax/email it to your parents as proof.
And failing your being able to secure a place in Barry's Basement Bazaar, there IS always camping. Wyatt looks like the kind of guy who probably has a tent and sleeping bags already in the back of that car. Although, you may want to look into some fabric sanitizer first.
